This is one of Taylor Swift’s most poignant and moving songs – and that’s saying a lot. A unique feature of this arrangement is the use of soloists from different generations: the Grandmother sings the first verse (about a young child), the Father sings the second verse (about a rebellious teenager), and the Daughter sings the third verse (facing her new responsibilities as a young adult). A youth choir and a mixed choir provide rich harmonies in an intergenerational collaboration, while the piano part ranges from delicate high notes to impassioned urgency. A heartfelt meditation on growing up and the importance of family connections.
